RYF (Radiant Youth Fellowship) is our Sunday night youth ministry program.
Through RYF we want to see our vision become a reality in the lives of the young people who come along.
Our vision is to see young people become disciples of Jesus who love God first, love each other and love the lost…
We believe that young people are very much the Church of today. We take seriously the call to be ‘the light of the world’ and to be like ‘a city on a hill’ (Matthew 5:14). We believe that young people can have a massive impact on their generation when they truly seek God’s face…totally dependent on Him…living lives of worship to Him. When this happens we believe that we will be Radiant, reflecting God’s glory. Psalm 34:5: ‘Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.’
Sunday Nights…
Our Sunday night program this year will have three main strands:
1. One night each month will follow the theme: The Great I Am – looking at who Jesus is and what that means for us.
2. A night when we split into two groups:
TUNE - a new series for those in Year 8+ that will look at Christian songs and the meaning/Bible behind them
BASIC - a DVD series by Francis Chan with discussion after – for those aged 19-25
3. RADIANT - our monthly praise and prayer event led by Parkesy and the youth band
Each month we will have a Friday night youth program – this will alternate each month – one month will be a SOCIAL night out somewhere and the next will be a SPARK night in church, where the focus will be on providing a fun night for the young people in the community, following on from SPARK Summer Week.
The Sunday following a Friday night SOCIAL/SPARK there will be no YF – come to church and do something random after!
We also have midweek Youth Cell Groups that meet every other Wednesday evening. These are small groups of young people who meet to study the Bible and pray with and for each other and so grow in their faith together. We are keen that ALL Christian young people get involved in a group. Please speak to Stuart or Myles if keen.
We also hope to have some Christians in Sport evenings. More info to follow.
The following is an extract from the CiS website:
‘If you love Jesus and are passionate about sport then these Groups are for you! We exist for one reason – to make Jesus known in the world of sport. Imagine the impact – Christian young people all across this country passionate about playing their sport, and passionate about representing Jesus as they do! Find out where your nearest one is and get there!’
For more info visit the Christians in Sport website.
Drop In
Each Wednesday afternoon (3:30-5:30pm) we have an after school ‘Drop In’. This is a place to come after school with your mates to chill out, have a wee cuppa, listen to some music, play some table tennis…very chilled…
