RYF (Radiant Youth Fellowship) is our Sunday night youth ministry program.

Through RYF we want to see our vision become a reality in the lives of the young people who come along.

Our vision:

  • We want to see young people connect with God and become disciples of Jesus
  • We want to see young people grow as disciples
  • We want to see young people using their gifts to serve God and others as disciples
  • We want to see young people lead others in becoming disciples

Our vision is to see young people become disciples of Jesus who love God first, love each other and love the lost…

We believe that young people are very much the Church of today. We take seriously the call to be ‘the light of the world’ and to be like ‘a city on a hill’ (Matthew 5:14). We believe that young people can have a massive impact on their generation when they truly seek God’s face…totally dependent on Him…living lives of worship to Him. When this happens we believe that we will be Radiant, reflecting God’s glory. Psalm 34:5: ‘Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.’

Sunday Nights…

We have a weekly program through RYF that we believe (at the minute anyway) helps us on our way to becoming effective disciples of Jesus.

Our Sunday night program is lead by the young people – each night someone will pray or give a short testimony about the impact that Jesus has made on their life. We also love stupid games…or stupid sing-a-longs…maybe if you’re there on the right night you might have the pleasure of belting out a modern classic (?!) like Take That’s ‘Greatest Day’ or ‘Sweet Caroline’…and we just love ‘Ireland’s Call’!!!! We do like to have fun on Sunday nights…and we hope this continues.

Sunday evening’s will also have a message given from the front. We really do believe God’s Word is alive and it’s central to all we do. Looking ahead into 2010 we are adopting 1 Tim 4:12 as our theme – and our prayer is that in these days and in this culture our young people will set an example to all around them in faith, life, love, speech and purity. Sometimes at YF we close with a time of praise lead by Parkesy. We love to respond to God in song and often these are very special times.

On the last Sunday evening in the month we have our Radiant praise and prayer time. These are amazing times of worship led by the Radiant Youth Band. At Radiant we love to spend time worshipping in song but we also like to give time and space for God to move and speak into the hearts of the young people. Very often these nights will have ‘open’ times when the young people can share something from the front or even just times for them to get in small groups with their close mates to pray for each other.

Discipleship Groups

We also have four midweek D-Groups (Discipleship Groups) that meet every other Tuesday/Wednesday evening. These are small groups of young people who meet to study the Bible and pray with and for each other and so grow in their faith together. New this year, we have a Young Leaders Group, led by Jim Loughins and Diane Stockman. This group maintains a strong focus on studying the Bible but also has a ‘training’ element to it where the young people involved are gaining valuable teaching in how to work with children/young people.

Drop In

Each Wednesday afternoon we have an after school ‘Drop In’. This is a place to come after school with your mates to chill out, have a wee cuppa, play some table tennis, Wii or Xbox…or even Connect 4 (yes – an absolute classic).

Social

Once a month, usually on a Friday evening we have a Social – in other words a night out!! Organised by Fordi and his Social Team we get awesome nights out (sometimes even night’s ‘in’) arranged…in the past we have done Laser Quest, Climbing, Tennis…we’ve been to the Super League basketball at Jordanstown…we’ve been to the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex…the list could go on. Keep your ears open for information on these nights!
