Day 10

project2512Scripture: ‘He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the LORD require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’ (Micah :8)

Prayer: Pray today that God would give you a heart that seeks to ‘act justly’ in our world.  Ask him to open your eyes to the real needs of people around us.  Pray that we would ‘love mercy’…and that we would live this out.  Pray too that we would always ‘walk humbly’ before God, always acknowledging that He alone is God and holds all our days in His hands…

Challenge: It’s Saturday again…the chances are that most of you will be out and about today in Carrick or even Belfast.  It might be good to pair up to do this.  So, today’s challenge:  keep your eyes open for a homeless person or someone who clearly is in need.  Buy them a bottle of juice or coke or something.  Don’t just give it to them and walk quickly away…think of something to say that might give them some hope.

I now realise that 25 days of consecutive challenges is hard enough…thank you for sticking with it and for giving this a real go.  We are so keen that you feedback here…I’d love to hear any stories from today’s challenge so please let us hear…

Project 25!!

Project 25

It’s that time of the year again. People are breaking out the advent calendars and stocking up on tins of sweets. This year we are hoping to bring back the Project 25 work (check out stu’s blog archives from December 2009). 25 acts of kindness during December to try and spread a little love coming up to Christmas.
If you want to get involved just check the website each night for the next days challenge (we will try and post each day’s challenge the previous evening) and post either on the website or on our Facebook about your experiences!

Here’s the post for day 1, let us know how you get on!

Prayer Phone

We have set up a phone for you to send any and all prayer requests to. If you have exams coming up in school… if someone in your family isn’t well… or even if something is going really right in your life and you want us to help you thank God for, text it to the number below and you can trust that at least one person (but probably more than that) will be praying into your situation.

Prayer“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, … prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” (Ephesians 6:13-18)

You don’t have to go through anything alone, the youth leadership team and the Woodlands prayer chain are always here, always willing to help.

PRAYER PHONE: 07517371880
(no-one’s number will be stored on this phone so all requests are anonymous unless you put your name at the end)

We have a new Facebook page and will be adding announcements both here and there, so click the link and like us on fb. Also if you missed Ash Todd on sunday about signing up for the social there is an event connected to the fb page, just add yourself on there and we’ll see you on Friday :) (dont forget permission forms!)

SUN 25TH SEPT – WHAT’S HAPPENING…

This Sunday, 25th Sept, there will not be a YF program after church…BUT…we are going to say that YF is at 6:30pm – evening church – Parksey is leading worship (no doubt picking great tunes to help us engage with God) and we will also be showing a video from the Youth Weekend and asking Rachael Scott and Lois Parkes some questions about what went on!

So, 6:30pm this Sunday – be there!!

*YOUTH WEEKEND – IMPORTANT INFO – PLEASE READ*

Please read and take note of ALL the following:

- be at church between 6-6:15pm on Friday evening. We will be leaving 6:15pm SHARP.

What to bring (in addition to the obvious!):

- raincoat
- towel (obvious for most people!)
- Bible (if you have one) and a pen
- Some white clothing for a UV party on Saturday night! (rare, white Adidas tracksuits would go down very well…the rarer the better!)
- Bring a packet tray bakes/biscuits/sweets for the main kitchen for everyone to share
- Some spending money (£10 should be enough!)

Don’t bring:

- any bedding!! All bedding is supplied!

YOUTH WEEKEND (AND YF BACK ON!) – *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*

After a busy but amazing summer, our annual Youth Weekend has crept up on us! The form for the weekend is available on this website (Parents page). I have also put a direct link to the form below which can be printed off – over 18′s as well as under 18′s MUST have this fully completed and returned by Sunday 11th September. I know this doesn’t leave much time…apologies!

The form requires some details. Here is what you need to fill in:

Organisation: Radiant Youth
Details of trip/outing/activity: Youth Weekend to Mill Rest Youth Hostel, Bushmills.
Date: Fri 16th Sept – Sun 18th Sept
Time: Depart 18:15pm Friday 16th
Method of Transport: Cars (bus if required)
Cost: £45 per person, £85 for two in family, £120 for three in family
Collection Arrangements: 17:00pm at Church on Sunday 18th

(Note: the price includes accommodation and all food for the weekend (except for a carryout one evening – money will be required for that). Saturday afternoon activities are not included in this price. Plans for that are yet to be confirmed but a wee bit of spending money would be recommended – £10 in total for the weekend should be well enough!)

YF will be back on this Sunday – if you want to go on the weekend it would be advisable to be there! As usual, weekend places will be allocated on a first come first served basis – no exceptions!

This will be a great way to kick off a new year within our youth ministry at Woodlands. I’m sure it’s going to be brilliant as usual…I really hope you can make plans to be there.

Thanks

Stuart

Click the link below for the weekend form. If you a printer at home please print off and fill in as above. If you can’t do this I will have copies on Sunday.
